This module explains the series of steps which occur between successive shots in any given firearm design. The order in which they occur depends on the type of action which the gun employs (lever, bolt, pump, break-open, revolver etc…). This series of steps is called the “Cycle of Operation”. A complete cycle of these steps must occur between the firing of one shot, and the point at which the next shot is ready to be fired.
